    Christian Aid are calling on people to 'Bite Back at Poverty' this year by getting involved with their big event of the year - Christian Aid Week 2013.

    We're midway through Christian Aid week now, which runs from the 12th to the 18th of May, and people up and down the country have been having some serious fun, raising money to help end poverty.

    Money and awareness raised from the extensive fundraising activity will help Christian Aid make a positive impact for some of the 870 million people who are estimated to be in desperate need of food.

Cancer Research UK talk about new prostate cancer drug, Abiraterone

Now available in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, but not Scotland

Have you heard of Abiraterone? It's a drug created by scientists in the UK that is used to help fight prostate cancer. Since 2008 it has been known about but not available to patients - until now.

While this is great news it's still not available in Scotland. Read on.

First let's look at the positive news which top cancer charity, Cancer Research UK are over the moon about.

The drug will finally be available to men who it the bill for treatment in Northern Ireland, Wales and England. This is after an agreement was, at long last struck, between NICE and the drug company, Janssen.

Cancer Research UK: New hope in the fight against cancer

Cancer Research UK has reacted positively to findings that could signal significant progress in the fight against cancer.

A recent study published in scientific journal CancerCell has indicated that a well-established antibiotic currently used in the treatment of common infections can also kill leukaemia cells.
