Protecting endangered animals
Did you know that a quarter of the animals on our planet could become extinct in the next 20 years? Three species disappear every hour and the cause is nearly always human activities.
You can help protect some of our rarest species by adopting an animal with the Aspinall Foundation. From lions to gorillas, adoptions start from just £3.50 a month to protect an endangered species that you care about.
How does the Aspinall Foundation protect animals?
The Aspinall Foundation is an animal charity dedicated to protecting rare animals. They work closely with Howletts Reserve and Port Lympne Wild Animal Park in Kent, which are home to more than 90 endangered species. The parks run breeding and rehabilitation programmes, as well as reintroducing animals back into the wild whenever possible.
The parks also play a vital role in educating people about endangered species: visitors can learn more about some of world’s rarest animals and how to protect them.
The Aspinall Foundation also runs conservation projects around the world. Through two habitat protection projects in central Africa, they’ve successfully introduced more than fifty gorillas back into their natural environment. And in Madagascar, a successful breeding programme for the greater bamboo lemur has removed it from the list of the top 25 most endangered primates in the world.
