Concern Worldwide is joining in today’s celebrations for Universal Children’s Day. We mark a very special day dedicated to the promotion of the welfare of children worldwide.

Childhood is such a special and important time in our lives; a time to learn, play, explore and have fun. Yet, tragically millions of children living in poverty aren’t free to simply be children. A daily struggle with hunger can have a drastic and lasting impact of the health and wellbeing of children.

Thousands of poor families can’t afford to send their children to school and need them to remain at home to help grow the food that they live off. And instead of learning and playing, children can spend hours each day fetching water miles away from their home.

Concern works with and for the world’s poorest children to help free them for a life of hunger and poverty. We provide the tools; training and knowledge to help families sustainably support themselves into the future, which helps build and protect the welfare of children.

By buying a Concern Gift of a Donkey for a loved one you can make a crucial difference to a child living in poverty. Donkeys help ease the burden for children and families by carrying water and food over long distances and harsh terrains.

They can also be harnessed with a plough to help plant seeds for harvest, helping to increase food production and very importantly generate extra income. Children are then free to go to school and free to be children.
