If you remember our blog post before last, you'll remember we covered the fact that it is Present Aid's birthday, and we wrote mainly about t he history of Christian Aid, who set up this famous charity gifts shop.

To keep the birthday celebrations going we now have a quick sum up of the impact that the gifts sold through Present Aid have had on the lives of those living in tough situations in developing or conflct torn countries.

Here's a quick impact summary

  • Present Aid began life as Just Gifts in 2004 – the website was launched in 2005 and the name was changed to Present Aid.
  • Since 2005 Present Aid gifts have supported people more than 30 countries across in regions all over the world.
  • Since its launch, Present Aid purchases have raised over £16 million to support people across the world.
  • More than 23,000 Present Aid purchases have given virtual goats to friends and family, supporting Present Aid’s agriculture fund.
  • Over 1,300 well gifts have been purchased over the years by supporters. This gift supports Present Aid’s water fund.

And on top of all that....

Since Present Aid started more than 7,000 books, stationery and uniform gifts have been purchased. These wonderful gifts for friends and family support Present Aid’s education fund.
Present Aid has a host of celebrity friends that have lent their voices to support the cause. Some of these include pop star Ronan Keating, singer Lemar, actor Kris Marshall, actress Jill Halfpenny, actress Suranne Jones and TV presenter Diarmuid Gavin.

The new and improved website

A redesigned Present Aid site launched in November 2012. At the same time the new site introduced group giving functionality and at least 10 couples have used Present Aid to celebrate their wedding to date.

Tax exempt status of registered charities and online security

All of the charities listed on this website are registered with the Charity Commission in the United Kingdom. Like any business, charities have to submit Tax Returns to HM Revenue and Customs, but all donations are declared and the charities do not have to pay tax on them. This means all your donation to charity will help to further their vision and goals.
