The World Land Trust has a project partner in Paraguay, called Guyra Paraguay, who have been given an area of land in Mariscal Estigarribia, one of the largest towns in the central Chaco.
With this they plan to initiate a project called 'Sustainable Mariscal Estigarribia'. Guyra Paraguay plan to construct a small office in the town to create an institutional presence there which will be a very important step in the management of protected areas of land there.
With a population of approximately 7,000, Mariscal Estigarribia is the commercial centre for the surrounding region. It is strategically important because it's position facilitates access to the surrounding National Parks and protected areas in northern Chaco.
The desire is to see this initiative and innovative agreement create employment and build the capacity of the local population in health, education, sustainable production and the environment.
The World Land Trust relies on donations from people like you to keep up their great work.
