There are many different religious charities in the UK
All the major faiths are represented: Buddhism, Christian, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism.
These charities provide a variety of services and care in the community, for example shelter and support for poor or homeless people, social care for children and vulnerable families, or support services for disabled people.
Some religious charities have more of a spiritual focus, for example, running religious education, outreach or community engagement services.
Some of them, such as the Leprosy Mission and Christian Aid also operate internationally.
They support some of the poorest people in the world, for example through healthcare, education, or emergency assistance to communities affected by natural disasters, conflict or climate change.
Religious charities may focus on providing help and guidance for their followers, or they may provide services for anyone in need.
