This is a really cool time of year when you can take part in the big bird survey - the Big Garden Birdwatch!

I'll be taking part in my local park keeping track of the birds I can recognise. Will you?

All you need to do is spend one hour in your garden or local park and record all the birds you can see in that time then submit the information to the Big Garden Birdwatch.

How can you help with bird conservation?

The RSPB would not be able to survive without the support of people like you.

Conservation charity, The Eden Project has a few days left in its January Sale and also some fantastic ideas for flowers they've grown themselves in those incredible bio-domes.

The Eden Project also has a range of stunning bouquets of organic flowers and foliage, which have all been grown and sourced locally and in hothouses heated by nothing else but the sun - not one of these flowers came here on a plane!

Children's charity UNICEF published an interesting piece on their UK website that states that there are 4 million children who are still suffering from basic water, sanitation, healthcare, and education services and protection from disease and illness, exploitation, and unsanitary conditions.
